Does it still EXIST???

First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit

As a Realtor, I get asked this question (and others like it) a lot. Does the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit still exist? Do I qualify for any tax credits if I buy a home this year? Do I qualify for any assistance to help my buy a home? Are there any first time home buyer programs available to me.

Forbes.com outlined the answer to these questions beautifully! The First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit was started in 2008 and ended in 2010. Every state has it's own incentive programs. Some are based on income, some on credit, some on the location of the home and some on other criteria too. Do some digging on your local government sites and see what is available in the areas you want to live. Align yourself with a GREAT lender and ask them the what programs are available. Local programs change all the time... So it is important to have a good relationship with a lender. I have some amazing lenders that I can refer you, just ask. :)
